Why I Use Healthie as a Mindful and Intuitive Eating Dietitian By Gisela Bouvier, MBA, RDN, LDN for the Healthie Blog

As a nutrition practitioner, I am always seeking new ways to connect with my clients on a more personal level. It’s a bonus if my clients can use the tools we discuss in practice, in between our sessions. Thankfully, early on in establishing my private practice, I partnered with a platform that allows me to stay connected with my clients: Healthie!

Implementing mindful and intuitive eating tools takes time. It can be difficult for some clients to re-learn how to eat as they start to focus more on their eating and understand that they always have the freedom to choose the foods they love most. Healthie, however, reminds and helps them to practice what works best for their nutrition journey.

How I Use Healthie In My Mindful and Intuitive Eating Practice

When I meet with my clients for the first time, I talk to them about the benefits of using Healthie.

Some of the features of the Healthie app include:

  • Photo food journaling
  • Hunger-fullness scale ratings, so clients can check in on their hunger and fullness levels
  • Emotional response ratings, so clients can reflect on emotions they have toward their meal.

These core food journaling features help me visualize and understand the progress or difficulties my clients may experience in our work together. Mindful and intuitive eating are not the same for everyone and the numerous Healthie features can be customized to best meet every client’s individual needs.

Healthie’s photo food journaling is a great tool for my clients to track their food intake, in a non-judgmental way. Unlike other food logging tools, a picture-based system lets my clients eat freely, without numerical judgment. Plus, my clients can become more connected to their bodies by using the hunger-fullness ratings and by rating emotions attached to their meals.

Healthie also integrates with Zoom, a robust video communication platform. This feature allows me to expand my practice and reach more than one client at a time.

As my practice evolves, it’s rewarding to see that Healthie does too. Being able to use Zoom video conferencing has allowed me to lead Virtual Small Group Counseling, as well as host Virtual Workshops, focusing on mindful and intuitive eating. Through the platform, I am able to reach the masses with my message and nutrition approach.

As technology continues to advance, the ways we can connect with clients should too. Luckily, Healthie has allowed me to do so. It is a fundamental tool to my practice and the way I connect with my clients on a daily basis.

If you haven’t tried Healthie yet, what are you waiting for?
