How to post client testimonials on a website

You’ve made an impact on your clients, and they’re excited to provide you with a raving testimonial about your services. Awesome! Now the question is, how can you make sure you’ve gotten permission to post this publicly.

The short answer is: get written permission!

Given regulations with HIPAA, you want to make sure that your client has given you authorization to publicly display information about them. A simple disclaimer will generally do the trick – see our sample waiver below, or feel free to contact us for more specific information.

Here are some additional things you can do to protect your clients’ privacy (even once they’ve given you permission):

  • Obscure the details: Use initials or just a first name (E.g., J.M., or Jessica M instead of a full name)
  • Blur faces in before and after pictures

Receiving positive testimonials from clients is one of the most gratifying parts of being in private practice – be proud of this accomplishment!
